Welcome and let me be the first to introduce you to our official William Morris Office Solutions blog. I hope we can laugh together, learn together, vent together, and heck, maybe even cry together. I would be lying if I said I knew what I was doing when it comes to blogging. Truth be told, I’ve never done it and have only read a few blogs a handful of times. Needless to say, I may not follow typical blogging protocols (if there even is such a thing) and I may jump all over the place, but at the end of the day, my hope is to provide some insight to William Morris and the amazing individuals that make up our team. We will share our experiences, expertise, and most importantly, have a forum to meet and interact with all kinds of new people.

Let’s start by getting some of the incidentals out of the way…..

Meet our fantastic team…..

First and foremost, what I should share is that nobody in our office goes by their actual name. We are a nickname heavy organization, which as you might guess leads to all kinds of fun when we have various manufacturer reps in for presentations. We of course introduce ourselves by our real names, but then refer to one another by our nicknames all presentation long. It’s always a lot of fun watching the confusion on the presenters face as they sneak a second glance at the business cards we had just handed them in an effort to try and figure out who the heck we are talking about. How do these nicknames come about? Well, it’s a very natural and unknowing process. Some event, situation, comment, or who knows what else just happens, and a voila, a nickname hits and sticks. No science or logic behind it, just magic and sheer randomness. What’s most important is that the nickname implementation can’t be forced. Sometimes it takes months before a team member officially gets tagged with a nickname. But when that special day or moment comes where the nickname is born, I can assure you that there is not a more glorious day or moment. Child birth and wedding days take a back set to being a part of this experience.

Fiona (Robyn)                                                                                                            Principal- is a “tree” aficionado as proven by the fact that she once swept the category in Jeopardy

Julie (Lucy)                                                                                                                        Sales Representative- plays 2 musical instruments poorly and can speak fluently in movies quotes

Karl (Brad)                                                                                                                        Sales Representative- known only as “The Mayor” throughout many parts of Europe, also known to “mail it in” on Fridays

Trudy [or Trudence depending on her daily attitude] (Whitney)                             Accounting Manager- deathly afraid of heights

As we get rolling with the blog, we will be introducing an ongoing series which we call “Hey you”. The hope of this series is to share some of our expertise and be a resource for that lucky person who gets yelled at from the boss in the corner office asking them to tackle any number of facility required tasks. Stay tuned for the launch of this series and please, by all means, let us know if there is a specific topic or issue you would like us to address.
